Nomad Bodyboards is proud to announce the introduction of the newEngineered Flex
Core to its 2008/2009
range.
<
BR>In the
past Bodyboard manufacturers have been forced to source existing materials
manufactured by other industries for purposes other than bodyboard cores. This
has forced the industry to be a slave to material manufacturers making materials
of varying quality not purposely made for the quality of product they want
produced. This is about to change.
Nomad
is one of a few companies on the leading edge of a new core composition
technology that will open the door to new world of 'ENGINEERED FLEX' conditions
and purpose built Bodyboard materials.
In
2008, Nomad introduces ‘Engineered Flex Core™’, a breakthrough in
Bodyboard core technology. The EFC is the first core material specifically
developed and constructed as a core for bodyboards. The result is a durable,
lightweight, one-piece core with superior memory, flex, recoil and projection
properties.
The way
in which the core is manufactured gives us the capability to engineer or finely
tune a core precisely to the flexibility we want it to have. Each
board’s core is individually manufactured inside a specially designed mold. This
process allows us to introduce unique and varied stringer systems during the
actual manufacturing process of the core, and assists us to effectively engineer
the flex of the core to specific requirements, such as weight and height, but
also surf conditions and water temperatures.
This
differs from Polypro and PE cores that are manufactured in long sheets that must
be then be cut to size. This process limits the manipulation of the cores flex
properties to stringers that can be introduced after the manufacturing process
by drilling holes into the core.
The EFC
has allowed us to develop unique stringers that, if not for this breakthrough in
manufacturing technology, could not be manufactured into the board in any other
way. Instead, the EFC allows stringers to be encased inside the core during its
manufacture.
This
includes the Type A configuration, using Nomads variable flex stringer
system that consists of a
Centrifuge stringer that is a tabular [flat] fiberglass compound and nearly
impossible to snap. Extra stiffness is added by adding a pair of semi-rigid
tabular stabilizing stringers. This is the ultimate set-up for cool water
surfing or any rider requiring superior flex.
The
Type O configuration uses a traditional tubular Carbon Fiber Stringer
encased in the core, allowing rigidity in cool water and providing Flex in warm
water conditions.
